What is Polymath
Polymath is an open-source tool that uses machine learning to convert any music library (e.g., from a hard drive or YouTube) into a music production sample-library. It automatically separates songs into stems (beats, bass, etc.), quantizes them to the same tempo and beat-grid (e.g., 120bpm), analyzes musical structure (e.g., verse, chorus), key (e.g., C4, E3), and other infos (timbre, loudness), and converts audio to MIDI. The result is a searchable sample library that streamlines the workflow for music producers, DJs, and ML audio developers.
Key features
Polymath performs music source separation using the Demucs neural network, music structure segmentation/labeling with sf_segmenter, pitch tracking and key detection with Crepe, and music-to-MIDI transcription with Basic Pitch. It also quantizes and aligns audio using pyrubberband, and retrieves music info with librosa. The tool supports adding songs from local files or YouTube URLs, quantizing songs to a specific tempo, and searching for similar songs based on audio features. It includes GPU support through CUDA for faster processing.
