About Kindred Tales
What is Kindred Tales
Kindred Tales is a service that helps families capture the life stories of parents and grandparents in a hardcover book. It offers multiple methods for sharing stories, including weekly email prompts, a web editor, an AI biographer named Ali, voice recording with transcription, and uploading existing audio files. The service is designed to be accessible for older adults, requiring no technical skills. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and includes free US shipping and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Key features
The service provides five ways to collect stories: reply to weekly email prompts, write directly in the editor with photo placement, chat with Ali the AI biographer, speak and have words transcribed in real-time, or upload existing recordings. The AI biographer asks follow-up questions to draw out forgotten memories and can help with chapter titles. The final book is a hardcover with casewrap binding, 80# white coated paper, matte finish, and color throughout. Both editions include a year of weekly prompts.
Use cases
Kindred Tales is ideal for adult children who want to preserve their parents' or grandparents' stories. It is suitable for families where the older generation may not be tech-savvy, as they can simply reply to emails or talk. The service also works for those who have existing recordings of their loved ones, which can be transcribed into book chapters. The AI biographer is particularly helpful for seniors who may not know what to write, as it guides conversations to uncover meaningful memories.
Pricing
Kindred Tales offers two editions. The Classic Edition is $90 (regularly $110) and includes weekly prompts, full question library access, one hardcover book with matte finish, 400 pages, and 80# white coated paper. The AI Edition is $115 (regularly $135) and includes everything in Classic plus speech-to-story transcription, AI biographer interviews, flexible AI written first drafts, downloadable audio recordings, and early access to future AI enhancements.
