About Fringe Sift
What is FringeSift
FringeSift is a web-based tool that uses AI to help users find Edinburgh Fringe shows. It allows users to enter a text query describing the type of show they are looking for, and it returns relevant shows from the Fringe program. The tool is designed for festival-goers who want to discover shows based on their interests, rather than browsing the entire program manually.
Key features
FringeSift offers a simple interface where users can select dates in August and enter a text query of up to 400 characters. It includes options to select all dates, select from today, or select none. The tool uses vector database embeddings created with OpenAI to match queries to shows. Users can also enable ChatGPT to summarize responses, though this is limited to 10 searches per day.
Use cases
FringeSift is useful for anyone attending the Edinburgh Fringe who wants to find shows matching specific themes or interests. For example, a user could search for "shows about the middle ages" or "shows for start-up founders." It is also helpful for those who want to quickly filter shows by date and get a curated list of recommendations.
Pricing
The page does not mention any pricing information. FringeSift appears to be a free tool, with a daily limit on ChatGPT summarizations (10 per day).
